Soccer

The Blaze soccer team will follow the rules and regulations stated by TSSA and FIFA Laws of the Game modified by U.S. Youth Soccer. 

PRACTICE

Practice will be Mondays and Thursdays from 5-6PM at the soccer fields located at 300 Public Safety Way, Clinton, TN 37716.

Inclement weather: Practice will be at the Dragon Sports Complex at CHS. Coach Swanner will send an email an hour before practice if the location is changed or if practice is cancelled. 

Practice Focus

Practice will focus on technical skills, conditioning, and tactical skills. 

  • Technical Skills (ball control, dribbling, passing, defending, shooting)

  • Conditioning (speed, agility, strength, power, and flexibility) 

  • Tactical Skills (position awareness, decision making, finding space)

Players must have the following for practice:

  • Size 4 soccer ball 

  • Shin guards covered by soccer socks

  • Soccer cleats (these cannot be softball cleats, turf cleats, etc.)

  • Water bottle

  • Hair up and pulled away from face

  • No jewelry (necklaces, bracelets, rings, etc.), stud earrings are acceptable at practice

Get excited about Spring! The Blaze Girl’s Academy will become the Official Blaze Girls’ Soccer Team. Team practice will begin in February.

SCRIMMAGES

Intra-squad games. We will split our team into two even teams to play against one another.  Everyone will have equal playing time. Hopefully towards the end of the season we can scrimmage another team. 

Scrimmage Focus

Apply what we’ve learned from practice in a game situation. Learn the rules and positions of soccer. 

Players must have the following for Saturday scrimmages

  • Orange and White Blaze soccer shirts

  • Black soccer shorts (any brand)

  • Shin-guards and soccer socks (black recommended but not mandatory)

  • Cleats

  • Hair pulled up (no metal clips)

  • No jewelry at all. (Earrings are not allowed during games.)

  • Water Bottle
