RESOURCE & INCLUSION

Purpose

The Clinton City Schools (CCS) Special Education Staff's purpose is to provide students with special needs the opportunity to participate in their least restrictive environment. CCS provides both resource and inclusion services for all special needs students. The services may vary depending on each individual student and how to best meet their needs.

Resource

CCS resource classrooms provide support for students with special needs and ensure access to general education curriculum and other school activities through collaboration with classroom teachers, support service providers, and direct instruction. Resource placements allow the students to receive small group or individual instruction from the special education teacher.

Inclusion

CCS inclusion classrooms provide support for students with special needs to stay in the regular classroom to receive their academic instruction from the regular education teacher. The special education teacher goes into the regular education classroom with the student to provide a support system for the student to succeed. Inclusion allows the student to receive instruction with his/her peers.
