North Clinton Elementary School
| About North Clinton Elementary School | North Clinton Elementary School is the smallest of the three Clinton City Schools. On average, North Clinton serves around 160 children. Last year, an unusually small group of only six 6th grade students were enrolled. These students were reassigned to either Clinton Elementary School or Clinton Middle School. We are pleased to have our 6th graders back with us this year. For the 2009-2010 school year, North Clinton has 1 kindergarten, 2 first grades, 1 second grade, 1 third grade, 1 fourth grade, 1 fifth grade, 1 6th grade, and 2 multi-age classrooms. North Clinton students participate in a wide variety of activities including Accelerated Reader, Study Island, Reading Across Grade Levels, 4-H, weekly computer classes, Junior Achievement, as well as many other activities and programs.
This will be an exciting year. We are currently in the process of running new fiber throughout the school and will have wireless internet access after Labor Day. In addition, our 6th grade students will also receive their laptop computers at this time. If your child is a resident of the city of Clinton and has attended Clinton City Schools in 4th, 5th, and 6th grades, your child gets to keep their laptop upon 6th grade graduation.
North Clinton is a great place to be. During daily morning assemblies, students are recognized for birthdays, honor roll, good behavior, Accelerated Reader awards, and many other special activities and honors. North Clinton has a family atmosphere. Staff members get to know all of the children in our school on a first name basis. Parent volunteers are encouraged and appreciated. We also encourage you to participate in our school PTO. Last year, our PTO helped sponsor dances, popcorn and a movie, pictures with Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny, purchased a new sound system for morning assemblies, and many other activities for our children. We would love to have you join us in support of our school.
Thank you for the opportunity to teach your child. We look forward to helping your child reach his/her fullest potential.

Matt Murphy - NCES Principal
| Message from the NCES Principal |
From the Principal
Welcome to North Clinton Elementary School! My name is Matt Murphy. This is my 3rd year as Principal at NCES and 14th year with the Clinton City School System. Before becoming Principal, I spent 11 years at South Clinton Elementary School teaching grades 1st, 2nd, and 5th. I grew up in Oak Ridge and now live in Coalfield. My wife is a 3rd grade teacher at Coalfield School and we have 2 sons who attend 2nd and 5th grade at Coalfield. In my free time, I enjoy coaching my boys' ball teams and working on motorcycles.
We have a tremendous staff at NCES. Due to our small size, teachers get to know each child on a personal level. NCES has an open door policy and a family atmosphere. We encourage parents to visit and volunteer to help whenever possible. Mrs. Lori Patterson is our school secretary. If you need anything, she will be more than happy to assist you in any way. She is a wonderful asset to our school. If I can be of any assistance, please don't hesitate to call or stop by. Once again, on behalf of the staff of North Clinton, I would like to welcome you to NCES. We are looking forward to a challenging and exciting school year. | |
