Clinton Elementary School

About Clinton Elementary School
Clinton Elementary School is the largest of the three Clinton City Schools. Approximately 500 students attend Clinton Elementary School ranging from preschool to sixth grade. There are 24 homeroom classes at CES: 1 preschool class, 4 kindergarten classes, 4 first grade classes, 3 second grade classes, 3 third grade classes, 3 fourth grade classes, 3 fifth grade classes, and 3 sixth grade classes. Students in grades 3-6 receive instruction in ability grouped classes, and the classes are departmentalized allowing for specialization in curriculum content.

The students at Clinton Elementary School participate in a wide variety of programs and activities. Our students are involved in the Accelerated Reader program and receive key tags and medals for their reading accomplishments. Last year, CES students earned more than 23,000 Accelerated Reader points. CES also promotes Character Counts and provides key tags to the students nominated for exceptional character. Drama Club, Junior Achievement, Spanish classes, Chess Club, Banana Splits, Open Library, Safety Patrol Club, and 4-H are other opportunities that our students enjoy.

CES students enjoy the usage of technology in their daily learning. There are eight classrooms that are equipped with interactive Smartboards. Six homerooms and the library received N-Computing Systems that accommodate four students at internet accessible computers. During this school year, the technology initiative will have sixth graders using laptops during their regular classroom day. Students in grades 3-6 receive computer instruction weekly in the computer lab, and the students in grades K-2 are encouraged to use the Mac lab with the help from their homeroom teacher. Study Island subscriptions have been purchased to allow students the opportunity to practice their TCAP skills at school and at home. Technology is an important part of the learning process at CES!

The PTO is a vital part of CES. The PTO purchased Phase 1 of the playground equipment in the Fall of 2007. In addition, the PTO provides funding to enhance the instructional programs at the school. Last year, PTO purchased the Study Island subscriptions in Science and Social Studies for students in grades 2-6. The PTO raises a large portion of their budget from the annual Medieval Madness Festival being held this year on Saturday, September 27th. The PTO is an invaluable part of CES’s success. The PTO is always looking for new active members. Consult your school calendar for meeting dates and times.

Every week, we meet in the auditorium and students are recognized for birthdays, AR accomplishments, Character Counts, and other special reasons. The Weekly Meeting is a wonderful time to celebrate the week’s accomplishments.

Jamie Jordan - CES Principal

Message from the CES Principal
My name is Jamie Jordan, and this is my third year as principal at Clinton Elementary School. Prior to my becoming principal, I was a fifth grade teacher at North Clinton Elementary School for eight years. I completed an Education Specialist Degree in Leadership and Supervision at the University of Tennessee while finishing my administrative licensure.

Being a principal is a dream come true, and the students, staff, and parents at Clinton Elementary are the best. I feel so honored to lead this organization. My personal goal, as an educational leader, is to maintain and build a positive learning environment where students and staff are recognized for their character and accomplishments. During our Friday meetings at 2:15, many of our students and staff are recognized for a variety of reasons including Accelerated Reader points, Character Counts key tags, Brag Box nominations, Best Behaved class, and birthdays. Drop by and join us at your convenience.

If I may be of any assistance to you, please contact me by phone at 457-0616 or by e-mail at . I respond to my e-mails and messages daily.
