Meetings
The Clinton
Board of Education meets on the second Thursday
of each month at 5:30 p.m. for the purpose of transacting public
school business. The chairman may call special meetings
whenever the interest of the public schools
requires it or when requested to do so by a majority of the Board. Meetings generally are held at the Clinton City Hall,
100 Bowling Street.
Qualifications and Selection of Board
Members
Members of the
Clinton Board of Education shall be residents and voters of the City
of Clinton and citizens of recognized integrity, intelligence, and
ability to administer the duties of the office. No person
shall be eligible to serve on the Clinton Board of Education unless
such person be a bona fide resident of the City of Clinton. If
any member ceases to reside in the City of Clinton, the office of
such member shall become vacant.
The Clinton Board of
Education is popularly elected and consists of six (6) members, two
(2) members from each of the three (3) identified wards of the
city. All members shall, at the time of their election and for
the term of their service, be residents of the city and of the ward
from which they are elected. (City of Clinton Ordinance 397).
Any vacancy from
death, resignation, discontinued residence in the City of Clinton,
or other cause, shall be filled by election of a member to the
School Board, by the Clinton City Council for the unexpired
